Your mission
Dorel Juvenile is looking for a Soft Goods Designer to join the Fashion Team at our Design and Development Center in Foxboro, MA. The Designer will be responsible for developing Soft Goods designs for a variety of juvenile products, including car seats and strollers.

Key responsibilities
The Soft Goods Designer must have a hands-on approach with strong visual communication through sketching and 3-Dimensional development including sample sewing.
They will have strong verbal and written communication, organizational, and presentation skills with a proven ability to work well with cross-functional teams. Key interfaces are with Fashion, Soft Goods Engineering, Industrial Design, Category Management and Project Management. Must be able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment with demanding deadlines.
• Create initial concept sketches based on trends/product planners/retailer space/cost.
• Create concepts for multiple brands and price points using design language for differentiation.
• Research market competitors and trends within all relevant and parallel industries.
• Using 2D and 3D skills in collaboration with Sewing Team, Industrial Design Team, Fashion Team, and global partners to create initial patterns and white samples of soft goods concepts.
• Develop 2D and 3D presentation materials for internal meetings as well as retailer meetings/presentations.
• Use Adobe Creative Suite to create beautiful concept renderings.
• Submit feedback for sample revisions to meet final approved standards.
• Partner and communicate between internal teams and domestic and international teams to share and refine patterns and construction from concept through to final production.
• Work closely with Costing Engineers to ensure designs meet project costing goals.
Your profile
• Bachelor’s degree in related design discipline.
• 5+ year’s experience designing and creating innovative products.
• Ability to create and evaluate 2D concept drawings and convert into 3D models.
• Ability to read and interpret, fashion and construction specs and modify as needed.
• Strong computer skills, specifically in Adobe Creative Suite, (Illustrator and Photoshop) and MS Office Suite.
• Technical sewing skills for constructing soft goods for mechanized products a plus.
• Pattern drafting skills to generate prototype sewing patterns a plus.
• Experience with industrial sewing techniques and soft goods manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of textile types and manufacturing processes, from raw fibers to finished goods.
• Strong aesthetic sense, with ability to evaluate and make material/quality recommendations.
• Self-motivation, excellent communication and follow up skills a must.
• Flexibility to be able to switch modes and projects as needed.
