Your mission

The Lead Engineer - CAE is responsible for conducting engineering research to evaluate the safety levels of Dorel Juvenile’s line of juvenile car seat products by performing computational modeling and analyses.

This role is located in Columbus, Indiana.

Key responsibilities

  • Developing computational models consistent with product development goals;
  • Preparing CAD (FEA/CAE) models for Finite Element Analysis (FEA);
  • Analyzing models in MADYMO/LS-DYNA/RADIOSS;
  • Validating computational models with tests;
  • Optimizing car seat designs for improved worldwide compatibility;
  • Optimizing plastic utilization in car seats to yield savings; and
  • Generating analysis reports for senior staff, including tables and graphs, summarizing models and analyses.

Your profile

  • At a minimum, a U.S. Master’s degree or foreign degree equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field;
  • 2 years’ experience in the job offered, or related occupation;
  • 2 years’ experience interpreting federal, state, and global vehicle safety standards and regulations and proposing proper designs for national and international compatibility;
  • Experience leading safety architecture for front, side, rear, and roof impact (including FMVSS 208/214/216a/301/305; IIHS MDB; IHS; IIHS Side Pole 5th/50th);
  • Experience applying engineering theory, design tools, user requirements, and supplier/manufacturing/assembly service capabilities and considerations to the development of product/system components; experience in computer aided engineering model development for vehicle and vehicle component design, testing, manufacturing, assembly, marketing, purchasing, quality, and service to introduce products that meet user needs;
  • Experience conducting FEA and test v. CAE correlation (CAE/FEA vs. Test correlation) reviews and analysis and communicating results.
