The Advanced Development team is seeking an Engineer to assist with managing and developing new ideas and products.
Your mission
The Advanced Development Engineer provides the Dorel Juvenile Advanced Development (AD) Team support in managing and developing Advanced Products. This US-based role works closely with the US-based Advanced Development Manager in both the strategic and operational aspects of the process to create new ideas and products.
This role will involve working with the Global Advanced Development team, internal product development teams, suppliers, retailers, third-party laboratories, and service providers.
This position is located in Columbus, Indiana and is eligible for a hybrid (mix of on-site/remote), work schedule.
Key responsibilities
- Review product ideas from internal and external systems for potential development.
- Work with internal model shop and external suppliers to create prototypes.
- Communicate key concepts and learnings to engineering for new product development.
- Work with marketing team on key requirements for new products.
- Develop list of potential specifications for new products.
- Manage cross-functional projects of various sizes and scope.
- Communicate technical requirements to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Your profile
Experience and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Hands on experience craftsmanship such as woodworking, metal forming, 3d printing highly preferred.
- Must be able to identify and document improvement opportunities within owned processes.
- Design software experience preferred such as Solid Works, AutoCad, Catia.
- Working knowledge of lean six sigma and process improvement methodologies.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work with technical and non-technical business owners to get things done.
- Must be able to think creatively and possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Must be able to use Excel, Word and other common desktop software applications.
- Must also be comfortable learning web applications and proprietary software.
- Three years or more of experience with product development and testing.
- Some experience with product marketing preferred.
- Must be comfortable communicating with all levels of an organization
