Your mission
We’re looking for a Fashion Designer for our brand portfolio from opening price point brands to our high price point brands. In this role, you will apply your design skills to create original, innovative design proposals that appropriately reflect our Brand stories. Through continued research, consumer insight, and trend evaluation, you will help to identify key trends that can translate onto to a wide assortment of products. You will collaborate with a design team to help elevate the Brands with fabrics, Brand detailing, print art, tube treatments, etc.
Create new designs in line with current trends and the target audience for many internal Brands. Evaluate new platforms and soft goods and improve design per brand guidelines. Research material, fabrics, and color trends. Attend regular design and product development meetings. Design collaboration with a team, bringing design solutions to life which compliment sales/marketing strategies and business goals. Domestic and international travel will be required.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON: You will work with many cross functional team members on a portfolio of Brand collections and platforms. You will create designs that enhance the future look of each of our brands in the marketplace. You will be responsible for presenting your inspiration ideas to the team during brainstorm sessions and beyond the team in internal and external meetings. Source fabrics/trims/details for product and render on platforms in Illustrator for buyer meetings. Create print art in Illustrator or Photoshop for textiles. Create Fashion Specifications for sales samples and for production. Choose colors for fabrics/trims that reflect the trend direction and approve color standards. Troubleshoot samples with sample team internally or from pictures with teammates internationally. Create solutions and options for sales meetings to give the sales team all the options they need to sell a product in. Come up with creative ideas on enhancing product for the end user, and work on finding cost savings solutions for platforms and soft goods.
WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH: As our Fashion Designer, you will report into the VP Design. You will work as part of the team on specific categories and Brands and will help teammates out on other categories/Brands as the needs arise. You will work closely with our Fabric team and Product teams internationally and monitor projects and samples.
Key responsibilities
• Responsible to deliver the fashion needs of the DJG juvenile line across all brands and potential brand opportunities, as well as the collaborate with soft goods team from design to production
• Research POS data, competition, market, trends, history, & create fashions to meet the needs of each key account and Brand
• Provide Sales and Licensing with presentation tools that communicate the vision & strategy of the fashion designed.
• Search for new fabrics by working with existing vendors, potential vendors, attending tradeshows, concept shopping to have full knowledge of trends in the market, trends in our categories and how they apply to DJG in order to differentiate from competition.
• Initiate fabric development by setting the standards for production
• Complete fashion specs for samples and final production.
• Collaborate with soft goods team on design that will elevate the aesthetics of the product and collection.
• Review and approve samples.
Your profile
• Bachelor’s Degree in Design or equivalent combination of education and experience and training.
• 3-5 years’ related design experience
• Must know Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop is a nice to have
• Must be a proactive, positive team member and self-motivator that can deliver results • Eye for color, willingness to learn color matching and new programs
• Demonstrated ability to create designs within set timelines
• Keep all design concepts/materials (fabrics/metals/plastics) filled and organized
• Work with team for sourcing new fabrics/trims etc.
• Ability to come up with new and innovative ideas for product to elevate brands
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team on designs and share in the workload
